Archaeological site of Aigai (Vergina)

The city of Aigai is the oldest and one of the most important centers of ancient Macedonia. The identification of the first capital of the Macedonians with the modern town of Vergina is confirmed by the discovery of the great palace and the burial places of the Macedonian kings, where the tomb of King Philip II, father of Alexander the Great, stands out.
